Making Progress

It’s been a little while since our last post so we decided to share a few more updates concerning the evolution of our big event.

November was all about FOOD! We started with dessert first and choose our cake at the Torrance bakery per the Portifino’s recommendation. This was not a difficult appointment to keep- sampling six different cakes all at once for free certainly was sweet! We decided upon a simple design of three circular layers in classic white which we’ll spruce up a bit with our own accents and the help of our florist. Inside is three flavors, banana on top for us to take home and two other for our guests which will remain a surprise (hint: one is a hue of orange and the other a perfect combo of black and white).

Then we were treated to a night of food and drink hosted by the Portifino at their quarterly food tasting for all the couples getting married in the upcoming months. We eyed and tried all kinds of appetizers, entrees and cocktails that were lavishly displayed in the very same ballrooms where our ceremony and reception will take place. The atmosphere was amazing and the food delicious. We assure you that the gourmet appetizers, entrees and of course the drinks, won’t disappoint. No red meat though, chicken, fish and vegetarian will be the choices, so don’t say you were not warned when you ask- where’s the beef?!

In December the bridesmaid’s dresses were selected at a great company called Aria dresses in Pasadena. A longer length and an interesting hue of eucalyptus was the choice all with the help of the staff and the maid of honor who attended the appointment.

Coming soon- we’ll profile our officiant and introduce you to our wonderful wedding party….Til then, happy Holidays!

Succulents

Marie was searching through LA magazine highlighting places to visit when she came across The Lily Pad in Hermosa Beach. We met on loc this past weekend for an hour consultation with owner and super creative flower designer Rebecca, she presented us a number of books with her designs when we came across succulents.
I've seen this beach plant growing wild everywhere along the sand and recently even bought some hanging succulents, but for a wedding - who would have thought! She had an arragement that blew us away, was super creative and perfect for our beach wedding.

Whew!!!

Marie was convinced she'd be wearing a towel to the wedding. She'd been to numerous bridal salons over the last 2 months looking for the perfect wedding dress, only to walk away with battle wounds from a saleswomen zipping up her back.

Due to Rosh Hashanah, Marie had Friday off work and took a trip to the O.C. to a Mega Bridal store. Among the frill, beads, strapless, A-line, sheer, and corsets, She found her dress!!!

Save the Date card is finished

Marie found her DJ

Marie was definitely intent on finding a DJ that could mix. She didn't want her wedding reception ruined by an overbearing DJ playing cheesy wedding songs. Luckily when we were driving around one day listening to Power 106, the LA hip hop station, she heard a great DJ power mixer, contacted him and asked him if he does weddings. He does! Meet our DJ- Tony Collage. Guess this means we are throwin' down a party on April 5th....

April 5th, 2008 - We've picked the date

We've chosen the Portofino Hotel and Yacht club in Redondo Beach for the wedding. This was the first place we looked at and definitely the one that fit our idea for the perfect wedding. The wedding ceremony and reception will take place in 2 ballrooms overlooking the Redondo harbor and the Pacifc Ocean. We've picked the date April 5th, 2008 - we look forward to celebrating the happiest occasion of our lives with all our family and friends. See you all there!
